A shrine for prayer, ritual, and offerings. This piece is a celebration of contrast and balance- the light and shadows within everything that exists.
The serpents were hand-sculpted and detailed with white speckled and black stoneware clays. The base of the shrine was crafted with slabs of warm, white stoneware. While still workable, three eyes were sculpted into the base. Finally, it was detailed with black, swirling patterns.
After slowly drying, the shrine was fired, glazed then fired once more. The serpents eyes are genuine moonstone that bathed in the healing light of the full moon.
The serpent symbolizes surrender, release, death and rebirth. In order to survive, serpents must routinely shed what keeps them from growing and no longer serves. Serpent energy is an empowering and comforting ally to lean on in times of transition and uncertainty.
