Black Serpent Mug

This vessel is the perfect companion for tea, coffee or cacao lovers.

The mug body was thrown on the pottery wheel with a ball of black stoneware clay, then joined with a handcrafted serpent handle. It was left to slowly dry before being fired twice in the kiln.

The outside of the mug is exposed, raw clay. The inside is coated in a glossy glaze and the serpent finished with a matte glaze.

The serpent symbolizes surrender, release, death and rebirth. In order to survive, serpents must routinely shed what keeps them from growing and no longer serves. Serpent energy is an empowering and comforting ally to lean on in times of transition and uncertainty.
