The mug body was thrown on the pottery wheel with a ball of tan, speckled stoneware clay, then joined with a handcrafted serpent handle. The serpent was nestled into sculpted mushrooms and moss. Finally, the wood grain was hand-carved into the mugs body, then it was left to slowly dry before being fired twice in the kiln.
The serpents eyes are authentic opals that bathed in the healing light of a full moon.
The outside of the mug is exposed, raw clay. The inside and serpent are coated in glossy, glass-like glaze. The mushrooms feature different glaze finishes.
The serpent symbolizes surrender, release, death and rebirth. In order to survive, serpents must routinely shed what keeps them from growing and no longer serves. Serpent energy is an empowering and comforting ally to lean on in times of transition and uncertainty.
