This mug is covered in fungi and detail. There is something to look at from every angle.
The mug body was thrown on the pottery wheel with a ball of black stoneware clay, then joined with a handcrafted serpent handle. The serpent was nestled into sculpted mushrooms and moss then left to dry slowly. It was glazed and fired in the kiln twice.
The outside of the mug is exposed, raw clay. The inside is coated in glossy glaze and the serpent features a matte glaze.
The serpent symbolizes surrender, release, death and rebirth. In order to survive, serpents must routinely shed what keeps them from growing and no longer serves. Serpent energy is an empowering and comforting ally to lean on in times of transition and uncertainty.
