Given a cone of incense, the Intertwined Lovers breathe smoke!
These lovers are perched upon a base that was crafted on the wheel with a couple balls of speckled ivory, stoneware clay. In seven hours, their bodies were sculpted by hand then given small, intricate details to bring them to life.
After slowly drying over the course of a couple weeks, they were fired at a low temperature in the kiln. The Intertwined Lovers were painted in different glazes to make their details shine. The glazes were brought to a bold maturation in a second firing at a higher temperature.
Finally, they were adorned with 22k gold, hand-painted details that were fused to their bodies in one last firing. The Intertwined Lovers have both shiny and matte gold finishes.
The serpent symbolizes surrender, release, death and rebirth. In order to survive, serpents must routinely shed what keeps them from growing and no longer serves. Serpents are wise teachers, reminding us to continue letting go in order to welcome new. Serpent energy is an empowering, inspiring and comforting ally to lean on in times of transition and uncertainty.
