When given a lit incense cone, the two serpents smoke from their mouths!
The Dreaming Sisters were inspired by the loving bond I share with my own sister. These serpents are weaving through clusters of hand-sculpted mushrooms and moss. This piece is adorned with precious 22 carat gold details that shimmer in the light.
The base was thrown on the pottery wheel with black stoneware clay. Once firm, two sculpted serpents and an abundance of fungi were added. After slowly drying, this piece was fired in the kiln. It was painted with a variety of glazes then fired twice more.
*During certain stages of incense burning, the smoke will sometimes only come from one of the snakes mouth instead of both. It is still fully functional though!
The serpent symbolizes surrender, release, death and rebirth. In order to survive, serpents must routinely shed what keeps them from growing and no longer serves. Serpent energy is an empowering and comforting ally to lean on in times of transition and uncertainty.
