Imagine being able to shrink tiny and walk amongst the slugs, mushrooms and small life forms often overlooked. This piece was inspired by that day dream.
The tray was thrown on the wheel with red stoneware clay. After it was trimmed and firm enough the work, two hand-sculpted slugs and clusters of mushrooms were added. Then it was slowly dried and fired twice in the kiln.
The outside of the tray is exposed, raw clay. The mushrooms and moss are coated in various glossy glazes.
This tray has a hole in the center to hold stick incense and three spaces to prop and catch the ash of rolled herbs.
