The vase was thrown on the pottery wheel with white, speckled stoneware clay. After it was trimmed, two asymmetrical handles were attached to the sides. Gingko leaves were then freehanded with black glaze and carved for added detail.
It was dried slowly then fired in the kiln twice. The inside is coated in a glossy, glass-like glaze and the outside is raw, exposed clay.
