When given a lit cone of incense, the serpent breathes smoke!
This smoker stater as two balls of speckled golden stoneware clay that were thrown on the pottery wheel. Once firm enough to work, it was trimmed then joined with a hand-sculpted serpent and fungi. After slowly drying, it was fired in the kiln, glazed then fired once more.
The serpent symbolizes surrender, release, death and rebirth. In order to survive, serpents must routinely shed what keeps them from growing and no longer serves. Serpent energy is an empowering and comforting ally to lean on in times of transition and uncertainty.
